As soon as she saw that pony she was in love. "Wanna, get ON it. On da' HORSEY". How could I refuse?
I took Caitlin to Trader's Village today. It's a huge flea market nearly the size of a small town. If you can't find whatever you are looking for there, you either don't need it or it doesn't exist. When I was pregnant, my husband and I used to spend hours upon hours walking through the lanes of.... stuff. Animals, clothes, fresh market foods, games, bikes, vehicles, and even alcohol booths. You can spend days walking around and still not see everything. So here we were, walking around, and walk past the backside of a small booth. I glance down and peeking underneath a hoisted up flag were a set of hooves. Uh oh.
Unable to resist my love of horses, I round the corner and come face first with an adorable paint pony. As soon as Caitlin laid eyes on him she squealed and HAD to get on that pony. I have to admit, I know she loves horses but she'd never seen one in real life before. However, I was willing to cough up the ten bucks to attempt to let her sit on him and have her picture taken. I unbuckled her from her stroller and picked her up to hoist her onto this poor unsuspecting pony's back. I walked up to the side of his face and had stick her hand out so he could smell her, just waiting for the moment that she would scream and try to escape to safety.
Are you kidding me? This child has NO fear. After a brief snuffling of her hand and her obvious enjoyment, I slid her into the saddle and her eyes lit up. The owner of the pony quickly slipped a pair of cowboy chaps, a bandana, and a cowboy hat on my little cowgirl and stepped away to grab her camera. I slowly let go of Caitlin but she was an ol' pro already and she wasn't about to go ANYWHERE away from that little pony. The woman snapped a few shots with her camera and Caitlin got to sit on him while she had them printed out. The next five minutes were pure heaven for my daughter, so much so that I almost wasn't able to get her off of him afterwards!
It was worth it. My little cowgirl. Sniff sniff.
